AB 1998 Summary

• Requires counties to submit consolidated annual reports by October 1 to the Board of State and Community Corrections describing juvenile justice programs, strategies, and system enhancements funded through the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Account (SLESA) with expenditure accounting.

• Mandates the Board of State and Community Corrections to compile county reports and submit annual summaries to the Governor and Legislature by March 1 each year, with public posting of program descriptions and trend data on the board's website.

• Consolidates the Juvenile Justice Development Plan submission requirement with the multiagency juvenile justice plan under a unified format specified by the board, eliminating duplicate reporting.

• Requires the Board of State and Community Corrections to develop recommendations by January 1, 2018, on best practices for disaggregating juvenile justice caseload and performance data by race and ethnicity.

• Allows counties to use existing available data instead of generating new data and permits consolidation of reports for both SLESA and Youthful Offender Block Grant programs to streamline reporting requirements.
