AB 2053 Summary

• Allows licensed primary care clinics and affiliate clinics to add additional physical plants on separate premises without requiring a new application, provided written notice is given to the department at least 60 days before adding the facility.

• Requires the department to approve additional physical plants within 30 days of receiving complete notification and payment of a licensing fee, and to amend the clinic's license to include the new facility as part of a single consolidated license.

• Establishes requirements for approval of additional physical plants, including demonstration of single governing body, administration, medical director, compliance with California Building Standards Code, and fire clearance standards.

• Limits additional physical plants to locations no more than one-half mile from the licensed clinic adding the facility.

• Specifies that licensees must submit documentation of corporate authority to control the additional physical plant, such as lease agreements, purchase agreements, or deeds.
