Creates the Office of Military Legal Assistance within the California Military Department to assist current servicemembers requiring legal assistance.

Office shall provide access to educational and informational resources and referral services to legal assistance programs, including reduced fee, pro bono, and self-help services.

Office may assist in legal areas including the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, consumer protection, and landlord-tenant issues.

Implementation requires prior appropriation of funds by the Legislature.

Provisions become inoperative on July 1, 2022, and are repealed effective January 1, 2023, unless extended by later statute.
