Requires the California Health and Human Services Agency to report to the Legislature by January 1, 2020, on how each county trains and equips law enforcement to identify and investigate elder abuse in long-term care and assisted living facilities.

Report must include for each county: the size and scope of the long-term care ombudsman program, whether the sheriff's department maintains an elder abuse task force or designated resource officer, and how these programs are funded.

Report must detail how frequently and which county programs engage with long-term care facilities through periodic visits, and whether elder abuse task force contact information is made available to facilities and residents.

Report must comply with Section 9795 of the Government Code.

Section 15656.5 automatically repeals on January 1, 2024, pursuant to Section 10231.5 of the Government Code.
