Authorizes school districts to include College Board-approved online advanced placement courses as an alternative means for pupils to complete high school graduation requirements.

Allows school districts to contract with providers to offer approved online advanced placement courses to pupils free of charge.

Requires the department to submit a comprehensive report to the Legislature by July 1, 2017, comparing enrollment trends in career technical education, foreign language, and visual and performing arts courses between 2005-06 and 2016-17 school years.

Establishes sunset provisions for Section 51225.3, with the section becoming inoperative on July 1, 2017, and repealed January 1, 2018, unless extended by later legislation.

Makes courses completed before the inoperative date that satisfied career technical education graduation requirements continue to fulfill those requirements under the amended statute.
