AB 2915 Summary

• Ratifies the tribal-state gaming compact between California and the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, executed on August 4, 2016, under the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988.

• Exempts specified actions from California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requirements in deference to tribal sovereignty, including execution of the compact, amendments to the compact, and related intergovernmental agreements.

• Exempts on-reservation compliance impacts and sale of compact assets from CEQA review, while preserving CEQA requirements for cities, counties, and the Department of Transportation except as expressly provided.

• Takes effect immediately as an urgency statute to enhance economic development and self-sufficiency of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
