Entities receiving $500,000-$2,000,000 annually from regional centers must obtain independent review reports of financial statements; entities receiving $2,000,000 or more must obtain independent audits, effective January 1, 2018.

Regional centers must submit copies of all independent audit reports to the Department of Developmental Services for review and compile vendor compliance data by regional center.

The Department of Developmental Services must annually publish audit compliance data and audit opinions in a performance dashboard.

Regional centers must notify the department within 30 days of receiving qualified opinion reports or reports noting significant issues impacting regional center services, including a resolution plan.

Entities may qualify for two-year exemptions from audit or review requirements if prior year audits showed no material issues impacting regional center services.
