Requires the State Department of Developmental Services to modify an existing movers longitudinal study contract as of January 1, 2017 to track individuals transitioning from developmental centers to community living arrangements.

Mandates the study include at least 250 volunteers proportionately selected from individuals who moved from Sonoma, Fairview, or Porterville Developmental Centers at different stages of closure.

Requires researchers to meet with study participants at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years after moving to the community to assess quality of life, services, and supports.

Obligates the department to maintain contact information for relocated former residents and ensure researchers have access to necessary data to conduct the study.

Requires the department to submit annual interim reports to the Legislature during the study and submit the final study results upon completion in accordance with Government Code Section 9795.
