CA SB994

Authorizes the Beach Cities Health District and Peninsula Health Care District to use the design-build process for construction of facilities and buildings in their districts until January 1, 2022.

Applies the design-build procurement process described in Public Contract Code Chapter 4 (commencing with Section 22160) to these two health districts upon board approval.

Requires all design-build projects to comply with the Alfred E. Alquist Hospital Facilities Seismic Safety Act of 1983 standards and requirements.

Declares this a special law necessary because of unique circumstances affecting these two districts and provides no state reimbursement is required.

Takes effect immediately as an urgency statute to facilitate expedited construction of health care facilities in these districts.
