Amends the definition of "honorably retired" in Penal Code Section 16690 to include retired level I reserve officers who meet specified length of service requirements.

Expands the exemption from California's large-capacity magazine prohibition (Proposition 63) to include certain retired reserve officers in addition to retired sworn peace officers.

Specifies that "honorably retired" does not include officers who accepted a service retirement in lieu of termination.

Enacted pursuant to Proposition 63's authorization for legislative amendments approved by 55% vote of each house that are consistent with the initiative's intent.

Approved by Governor July 9, 2018, and took effect as Chapter 63.
