Commencing January 1, 2020, violations of Sections 23123, 23123.5, 23124, and 23125 of the Vehicle Code (wireless telephone and electronic device use while driving) shall count as one point against a driver's record.

Eliminates the existing exemption that previously prevented distracted driving violations from being counted as points against a driver's record.

Clarifies that violations of prohibitions on wireless telephone use while driving a schoolbus or transit vehicle are subject to one violation point against the driver's record, effective January 1, 2020.

Section 12810.3, which exempted certain electronic device violations from point assessment, is repealed effective January 1, 2020.
