CA AB1868

Authorizes school districts to provide optional instruction on the risks and consequences of creating and sharing sexually suggestive or sexually explicit materials through cell phones, social media, computer networks, or other digital media as part of comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education.

Applies to pupils in grades 7 to 12, with instruction required at least once in junior high or middle school and at least once in high school.

Incorporates amendments proposed by AB 1861 regarding human trafficking education to include information on how social media and mobile device applications are used for trafficking.

Became effective September 17, 2018 upon Governor approval.
