Removes the January 1, 2019 repeal date for an exemption allowing deputy sheriffs to be reassigned from custodial to law enforcement duties without retraining if they completed training within the previous 5 years, making this exemption permanent.

Deputy sheriffs performing custodial duties remain eligible for reassignment to crime prevention and law enforcement duties within 5 years of completing basic training without needing requalification, provided they maintain continuous employment with the same department and keep required perishable skills current.

Amends Penal Code Section 832.3 to extend indefinitely the provision that previously had a sunset date, allowing greater flexibility in deploying custodial deputies to general law enforcement assignments.
