Dealers selling used vehicles must maintain evidence that all employed salespersons have completed the required training, with exemptions for new vehicle dealers, dismantlers, motorcycle-only dealers, trailer-only dealers, and salespersons employed for less than 6 months.

Dealers must reimburse employees for the cost of required educational programs during employment, including registration fees, materials, and compensation at the employee's regular hourly rate.

Violations are punishable as infractions and compliance is subject to inspection by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Becomes operative on July 1, 2019.
