Extends the statute of limitations for prosecuting mandated reporters who fail to report sexual assault from one year to five years from the date the offense occurred.

Applies to mandated reporters (such as teachers and social workers) who fail to report incidents they know or reasonably suspect to be sexual assault as defined in Penal Code Section 11165.1.

Mandated reporters must report child abuse or neglect within the scope of their professional capacity or employment; failure to do so is a misdemeanor.

Approved by Governor on September 30, 2018, and filed with the Secretary of State the same day.
