AB 2340 Summary

• Allows juvenille court to assume dependency jurisdiction over persons aged 18-21 who were victims of sexual trafficking before their adoption was vacated or guardianship terminated.

• Requires that the person received adoption assistance payments or Kinship Guardianship Assistance Payment (Kin-GAP) benefits before age 16 and meets the eligibility criteria for extended foster care support.

• Establishes petition procedures for nonminor former dependents to request court jurisdiction under Section 388.1, with hearings to be held within 15 judicial days of filing.

• Counties are required to pay the nonfederal share of costs for extending aid to eligible nonminor former dependents under existing cost-sharing limitations.

• Specifies that no state reimbursement is required for costs associated with this expansion that fall within existing 2011 Realignment Legislation funding levels.
