Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training must develop and implement training on sexual orientation and gender identity minority groups, consulting with sexual orientation and gender identity minorities in law enforcement and the community including at least one male, one female, and one transgender person.

Training must be incorporated into basic training courses for all law enforcement officers and dispatchers and cover terminology, differences between sexual orientation and gender identity, creating inclusive workplaces, historical moments related to sexual orientation and gender identity minorities, and responding to domestic violence and hate crimes involving these groups.

Law enforcement officers, administrators, executives, and dispatchers may participate in supplementary training on these topics that counts toward Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training continuing professional training requirements and includes facilitated discussions, learning activities, and scenario training exercises.

Commission may establish additional training courses to update the instruction as deemed necessary.
