Court shall permit persons convicted of infractions to elect to perform community service in lieu of total fines upon showing that payment would pose hardship on defendant or family.

Hourly rate for community service is set at double the minimum wage for employers with 25 or fewer employees for the applicable calendar year, based on Labor Code Section 1182.12.

Courts may adopt local rules to increase the hourly credit for community service above the double minimum wage rate.

"Total fine" is defined as total bail including base fine and all assessments, penalties, and additional moneys owed by the defendant.

State shall reimburse local agencies and school districts for costs mandated by this act pursuant to Government Code Part 7.
