School districts, county offices of education, and charter schools may combine "Lincoln Day" (February 12) and "Washington Day" (third Monday in February) into a single "Presidents' Day" holiday on the third Monday in February, provided they also designate May 1 as "International Workers' Day" and close schools on the Monday or Friday of the week in which May 1 occurs.

Schools observing "Presidents' Day" must hold exercises in memory of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington on the day before the holiday.

Schools observing "International Workers' Day" must hold exercises commemorating and directing attention to the history of labor movements in the United States on the day before the holiday.

For school districts and county offices of education that elect to observe both "Presidents' Day" and "International Workers' Day," classified employees are entitled to paid holidays on those days instead of on "Lincoln Day" and "Washington Day."
