Chancellor of the California Community Colleges must revise the online application process by July 31, 2019, to collect only data required by federal government, state law, or otherwise necessary as determined by the chancellor.

Chancellor may delay collection of data that can be obtained from students at a later time until after the student has applied to a community college.

Students enrolling exclusively in career development and college preparation courses, and other non-credit courses, are exempt from community college residency classification requirements.

Chancellor may still collect residency data voluntarily submitted by students after enrollment.

If the Commission on State Mandates determines this act imposes state-mandated costs, reimbursement shall be made pursuant to existing statutory procedures.
