AB 3246 Summary

• Changes the deadline for the Controller to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of suspended county vehicle theft fee collection authority from January 1 to February 1 each year.

• Repeals obsolete provisions requiring electrical utilities to pay fees for wire hazard awareness programs and removes the Department of Transportation's authority to issue permits for structures affecting airspace, retaining only FAA determination requirements.

• Revises state highway route descriptions for Route 74 (removing portions in Lake Elsinore, Palm Desert, Perris, and Riverside County) and Route 86 (removing portions in El Centro, Brawley, Imperial, and unincorporated Imperial County areas) to reflect relinquishments to local agencies.

• Extends the deadline for the California Transportation Commission to adopt Active Transportation Program project allocations from April 1 to July 1 of each odd-numbered year.

• Makes technical and clarifying amendments to various Vehicle Code and Streets and Highways Code sections, with provisions for state reimbursement of any local mandate costs.
