Legislature expresses support for the 23 Asilomar AI Principles as guiding values for artificial intelligence development and related public policy.

The 23 principles were developed in January 2017 by AI researchers, economists, legal scholars, ethicists, and philosophers meeting in Asilomar, California.

Principles cover three areas: research issues (beneficial AI goals, funding for safety research, researcher cooperation), ethics and values (safety, transparency, human alignment, privacy, shared prosperity), and longer-term issues (capability risks, recursive self-improvement controls, superintelligence safeguards).

As of March 2018, more than 1,200 leading AI researchers and global leaders in government, industry, and academia have endorsed these principles.
