Legislature recognizes and celebrates July 4, 2018, as the 242nd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America.

Legislature calls upon all people of California and the United States to use the July 4th holiday to gain greater knowledge and understanding of the facts, circumstances, and principles of liberty and equality underlying the Declaration of Independence.

Legislature expresses gratitude and appreciation to all current and former members of the Armed Forces of the United States for their sacrifices in preserving, protecting, and defending American freedoms and liberties.

Legislature intends to take the opportunity preceding the 4th of July every year to recognize and celebrate Independence Day and its historical significance.
