Recognizes August 26, 2018, as Women's Equality Day to commemorate the anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which secured women's right to vote on August 26, 1920

Acknowledges the historical struggle for women's rights dating back to the first women's rights convention on July 19, 1848, and recognizes pivotal legislation including the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Identifies ongoing gender inequality in California including wage gaps, employment discrimination, lack of affordable child care and housing, and disproportionate representation of women in minimum wage jobs

Notes that women comprise nearly half of California's workforce and are critical to the state's economy, while facing barriers in education and employment not experienced at the same magnitude by men

Directs the Chief Clerk of the Assembly to transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution
