Extends the filing deadline for workers' compensation death benefit claims by peace officers and active firefighters from 240 weeks to 420 weeks from the date of injury, with a maximum of one year after the date of death.

Applies the extended deadline to deaths resulting from occupational injuries or illnesses, including cancer, blood-borne infectious diseases, and tuberculosis.

Removes the January 1, 2019 expiration date, making the extended filing period permanent rather than temporary.

Requires that proceedings be brought by or on behalf of a dependent of the deceased officer and that the injury occurred during the person's active service.

Exempts claims that were already adjudicated, finalized, or expired on or before December 31, 2014 from the extended deadline provisions.
