Department of Motor Vehicles must adopt regulations by June 5, 2020 for entry-level driver training requirements for commercial motor vehicle drivers in compliance with federal regulations (49 CFR Parts 380, 383, and 384).

Entry-level drivers applying for a Class A or B commercial driver's license must complete a minimum of 15 hours of behind-the-wheel training.

At least 10 of the required 15 hours of training must occur on public roads.

Every 50 minutes of driving time counts as one hour toward the training requirement.
