CA SB1323

Authorizes county lighting maintenance districts in Los Angeles County to perform maintenance and make improvements under the Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972, in addition to their existing authority under the Improvement Act of 1911.

Allows these districts to utilize funds collected under the Improvement Act of 1911 to purchase streetlights serving unincorporated areas of the county for ownership and enhanced maintenance.

Includes legislative findings that a special statute is necessary for Los Angeles County due to the unique needs of county lighting maintenance districts.

Takes effect immediately as an urgency statute, with an effective date requirement of July 18, 2018 to enable fund utilization for streetlight purchases.
