Amends Penal Code Section 13519 to require the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training to include procedures for assessing lethality or signs of lethal violence in domestic violence situations within training courses.

Adds lethality assessment as a new required training topic (item 6) in the basic training course for law enforcement officers handling domestic violence complaints.

Maintains existing requirements for domestic violence training to include response procedures, arrest authority, victim safety, legal rights, documentation, and community resources.

Applies to law enforcement officers from local police departments, sheriff's offices, and university/state park police departments throughout California.

Effective upon Governor's approval on July 18, 2018, with no new funding requirements imposed on local government entities.
