Authorizes courts to order commitment of individuals to a separate unit at Canyon Springs Community Facility until June 30, 2021, if they meet acute crisis admission criteria under Section 4418.7

Limits the facility to no more than 10 beds designated for this purpose

Requires regional centers and resource development projects to follow preadmission notification and assessment procedures specified in Section 4418.7 before admission

Amends Section 7505 to establish Canyon Springs Community Facility as an allowable placement option for court-ordered commitments of persons with developmental disabilities experiencing acute crises

Takes effect immediately as an urgency statute due to critical shortage of placement options for persons with challenging mental health needs in acute crisis situations
