CA SB219

Enacts the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Long-Term Care Facility Residents' Bill of Rights, making it unlawful for long-term care facilities to discriminate based on actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or HIV status.

Prohibits facilities from denying admission, transferring, or discharging residents; refusing to use preferred names or pronouns; denying appropriate medical care; or restricting restroom access based on protected characteristics.

Requires facilities to maintain records of residents' gender identity, correct name, and pronouns as indicated by the resident, and to protect personally identifiable information regarding sexual orientation, transgender status, and HIV status from unauthorized disclosure.

Mandates facilities post notices regarding nondiscrimination protections alongside existing nondiscrimination policies in all visible locations and materials.

Applies protections to skilled nursing facilities, intermediate care facilities, and residential care facilities for the elderly, with violations treated as violations under existing health facility licensing laws.
