CA SB221

Prohibits the sale of firearms and ammunition at the Cow Palace property in San Mateo County and the City and County of San Francisco, effective January 1, 2020.

Applies to all officers, employees, operators, and lessees of Agricultural District 1-A who may not authorize or allow such sales on the Cow Palace property or any successor properties operated by the district.

Defines "firearm" according to Penal Code Section 12001 and "ammunition" as assembled ammunition or components including powder and projectiles capable of causing deadly harm.

Exempts gun buy-back events conducted by law enforcement agencies from the prohibition.

Makes violations of the firearm and ammunition sales prohibition a misdemeanor and specifies no state reimbursement is required for local enforcement costs.
