CA SB401

Amends Government Code Section 4560 to replace specific space requirements for child care facilities in state office buildings with a requirement that indoor and outdoor activity space comply with Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.

Eliminates the previous requirement that indoor area not exceed 2,100 square feet nor be less than space needed for 30 children, allowing regulations to govern space specifications.

Maintains existing provisions requiring state office buildings that accommodate 700 or more employees to designate adequate child care space when sufficient need for 30 or more children is demonstrated.

Preserves requirements that child care facilities comply with local and state safety building codes and that state employees' children receive priority admission.

Approved by Governor September 11, 2017 and filed with Secretary of State on the same date.
