Community college districts must identify students who have completed an associate degree for transfer and notify them of their completion at the end of each academic term.

Community college districts must automatically award the associate degree for transfer to eligible students and add them to a statewide identification system maintained by the Chancellor's Office at the end of each academic year.

The identification system shall be electronically accessible by California State University and University of California to facilitate student transfer pathways.

Students may opt out of receiving the associate degree for transfer or being included in the identification system.

The bill's requirements are operative only if the Legislature appropriates sufficient funds to cover state-mandated costs to community college districts.
