Recognizes the role Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders have played in California's social, economic, and political development throughout state history

Acknowledges California's NHPI population of more than 347,000 (29 percent increase from 2000-2010), including the largest populations outside Hawaii of Native Hawaiians (74,932), Samoans (60,876), and Guamanians/Chamorros (44,425)

Notes NHPI community contributions including 10 percent of Native Hawaiians and 12 percent of Guamanian/Chamorro Americans serving as veterans, and NHPI-owned businesses increasing 30 percent between 2002-2007

Encourages all federal, state, and local organizations to promote preservation of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander history, culture, traditions, and heritage
