Urges Congress to reauthorize and strengthen the federal assault weapons ban and to pass the federal Assault Weapons Ban of 2018

Calls on CalPERS to engage with companies in its portfolio that produce or sell firearms to determine if they will withdraw from firearm production and sales, and to divest from companies that refuse to participate in such engagement

Cites public health concerns including school shootings, mass shootings, and polling data showing 67% of voters support a nationwide assault weapons ban and 97% want universal background checks

Notes that California has reduced its gun mortality rate by 56% since 1993 through comprehensive gun reform, and commends CalSTRS for divesting from companies making guns illegal in California

Directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit the resolution to the President, Vice President, Congress members, and California's federal representatives
