Authorizes successor agencies for the Central Fire Protection District and Aptos/La Selva Fire Protection District to maintain the defined benefit retirement plans that employees received from their original employer prior to consolidation.

Requires the successor agency to designate which surviving contract to use within 180 days of the consolidation.

Applies retroactively to consolidations occurring on or after June 30, 2020.

Makes legislative findings that a special statute is necessary for Santa Cruz County fire district consolidation due to unique circumstances requiring removal of redundancies while maintaining emergency services.
