Beginning January 1, 2021, professional supervised visitation providers must register as trustline providers with the State Department of Social Services.

Professional providers must complete a Live Scan criminal background check before providing supervised visitation services, at the provider's or agency's expense.

Professional providers must complete at least 12 hours of classroom instruction out of 24 required training hours, with child abuse reporting laws training conducted through an online mandated reporter course provided by the Department of Social Services on and after January 1, 2021.

Professional providers denied trustline registration or whose registration is revoked by the State Department of Social Services become ineligible to serve as professional providers.

No state reimbursement is required because costs are associated with changes to crime definitions under Article XIII B of the California Constitution.
