Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation must submit a study to the Legislature, Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board, and Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on or before January 1, 2021, regarding carcinogenic material exposure and occupational cancer in mechanics who repair and clean firefighting vehicles.

Study must include site visits at representative facilities where firefighting equipment is cleaned and repaired, particularly in Los Angeles County.

Study must include interviews and surveys with current and former mechanics regarding frequency of carcinogen exposure, safety equipment availability and use, and knowledge of cancer incidence among mechanics.

Study must measure current levels of carcinogenic material exposure to mechanics in Los Angeles County and other included facilities to establish a baseline of exposure.

Section 77.7 is repealed on January 1, 2024, pursuant to Government Code Section 10231.5.
