State Fire Marshal must employ at least 5 traveling training officers and equipment to provide weekend and evening training classes year-round to volunteer fire departments and mixed-staffing departments.

Participating fire departments determine their own training schedule and curriculum offerings.

Firefighters may receive 100% reimbursement of actual costs for attending training classes at local community colleges if the State Fire Marshal cannot provide training, with reimbursement claims processed within 90 days.

State Fire Marshal must report to the Legislature by January 1, 2022, and annually for two additional years on program effectiveness.

Program implementation requires appropriation in the annual Budget Act and automatically repeals on January 1, 2025, unless extended by prior legislation.
