Director of Parks and Recreation must develop and implement a wildfire prevention strategy by January 1, 2024, for all department property in high or very high fire hazard severity zones.

Strategy must outline fire prevention goals and future projects including prescribed fire, defensible space, fire resilient restoration, and fire hardening of structures.

Strategy must include recommendations for policy changes and resources needed to address increasing high severity wildfire threats.

Department must post the wildfire prevention strategy on its website and provide a legislative update on implementation by January 1, 2026.

Implementation is contingent on enactment of an appropriation using non-General Fund moneys.
