Local educational agencies must report any cyberattack to the California Cybersecurity Integration Center established by the Office of Emergency Services.

Each local educational agency must designate a cybersecurity coordinator to serve as a liaison for cybersecurity matters between the agency and the California Cybersecurity Integration Center.

Cybersecurity coordinators must notify parents or legal guardians of pupils whose records may have been accessed as a result of a cyberattack.

The California Cybersecurity Integration Center must establish a database tracking cyberattack reports from local educational agencies and submit annual reports to the Legislature by July 1 beginning in 2021, including recommendations for improvements.

If the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill imposes state-mandated costs, reimbursement shall be made according to existing statutory procedures under Government Code Part 7.
