Requires the Department of Justice to analyze firearm tracing data for patterns and trends related to illegally possessed firearms, firearms used in crimes, and their sources and origins.

Mandates the Department of Justice submit a comprehensive report to the Legislature by January 1, 2022, and annually thereafter, summarizing the analysis of recovered firearm data.

Requires the Department of Justice to make the annual firearm tracing report available to the public.

Maintains existing law requiring law enforcement agencies to report information on recovered firearms that are illegally possessed or used in crimes to the Department of Justice within seven calendar days.

Requires the Department of Justice to maintain collected firearm tracing data for at least 10 years and make it available for academic and policy research purposes.
