Allows district attorneys, city attorneys, and city prosecutors to alert defense attorneys in criminal or juvenile proceedings about the need to file a petition to access juvenile records when potentially discoverable evidence exists in a juvenile case file.

Clarifies that this notification does not violate confidentiality restrictions on disseminating juvenile case files, as long as the prosecutor is not directly disseminating the file itself.

Applies to prosecutors authorized to prosecute criminal or juvenile cases under state law.

Does not change existing protections for juvenile court record confidentiality or the requirement that defense attorneys must file a formal petition to access protected records.
