Effective July 1, 2020, traffic violator schools must procure and file a single $15,000 bond with the Department of Motor Vehicles (eliminates separate $2,000 bond for classroom-based schools).

Office or place of business must be a separate enclosed space with minimum 100 square feet, lockable entry door, not within 500 feet of any court of law, and not within 50 feet of another licensed traffic violator school.

Traffic violator schools must be open to the public with regular business hours Monday through Friday (excluding state and federal holidays), with an operator or employee present during business hours.

School names cannot include cost or price information unless the name accurately reflects the actual course cost.

Exemptions from certain requirements apply to public schools and other public agencies, including the bonding and some location/operational requirements.
