Designates March 12, 2020, as California Kidney Day to align with World Kidney Day.

Urges Californians to familiarize themselves with the causes and consequences of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the importance of early intervention.

Notes that approximately 80,000 people in California have end stage renal disease (ESRD), the final stage of CKD requiring dialysis or kidney transplant.

Identifies diabetes and high blood pressure as the leading causes of CKD in the United States, both preventable or manageable through early recognition and treatment.

Encourages public policy initiatives focused on early identification, cardiovascular risk factor control, and intervention for those with diabetes and high blood pressure to reduce long-term effects and economic burden of CKD.
