Recognizes Vaisakhi celebration on Monday, April 13, 2020, and encourages Californians to participate in this joyous day of celebration

Acknowledges Vaisakhi as an ancient festival of significance to Sikhs, Hindus, and Buddhists, celebrated annually on April 13 or 14 by many Californians with Sikh and Indian heritage

Notes that for Sikhs, Vaisakhi commemorates the creation of Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699, which unified Sikhs into a family of soldier saints and established the "Panj Kakkar" or "Five K's" tradition of Sikh identity

Observes that for Hindus, Vaisakhi marks the traditional solar new year and is celebrated as a spring harvest festival with temple visits, sacred river bathing, and attendance at lively fairs called "melas"

Expresses the Assembly's deepest respect for all who observe and celebrate Vaisakhi with South Asian Americans and the Indian diaspora throughout the world
