State Water Resources Control Board must certify testing methodology or methodologies for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water, groundwater, and surface water by January 1, 2022.

State board must accredit qualified California laboratories to analyze PFAS using the certified methodology or methodologies by the same deadline.

Testing methodology may address PFAS as a class or use a reasonable proxy for the class of substances.

Implements additional requirements under the California Safe Drinking Water Act to regulate PFAS contamination and protect public health.
