Adds Section 952.1 to the Evidence Code to expand the definition of confidential communications between client and lawyer.

Protects lawyer-client communications made by inmates in custody at specified institutions as confidential, even if overheard or recorded by law enforcement officers, institution staff members, or telecommunications companies.

Protects lawyer-client communications made inside courthouses or courthouse facilities that are not part of a court proceeding as confidential, even if overheard or recorded by law enforcement officers or on-duty court staff members.
