SB 1108 Summary

• Requires all local law enforcement agencies to adopt a policy on senior and disability victimization by January 1, 2022, covering investigation procedures, arrest protocols, training requirements, and victim support.

• Mandates district attorneys to convene relevant county agencies by April 1, 2021, to develop a multidisciplinary plan for preventing and responding to senior and disability victimization, with progress reports due semi-annually to the Department of Justice.

• Requires law enforcement agencies and district attorneys to report statistics on senior and disability victimization to the Department of Justice annually, which the Attorney General must analyze and report to the Legislature by July 1 each year.

• Directs the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training to review and update training materials on senior and disability victimization when laws are substantially amended.

• Establishes that costs mandated by the state under this act shall be reimbursed to local agencies pursuant to existing state mandated local program procedures.
