Requires landlords of assisted housing developments to offer tenants the option of having rental payments reported to consumer reporting agencies, effective July 1, 2021 through July 1, 2025.

Landlords may charge tenants who elect rent reporting a fee not to exceed $10 per month or the actual cost to provide the service, whichever is less.

Tenants must receive a written election form that includes information about the reporting agencies, optional nature of reporting, fees, and opt-out procedures; landlords must provide a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Tenants may opt out of rent reporting at any time but cannot re-elect reporting for at least 6 months after opting out; failure to pay reporting fees does not constitute grounds for eviction or security deposit deductions.

Exempts landlords of assisted housing developments with 15 or fewer units from these requirements, unless the landlord owns multiple assisted housing developments and is a real estate investment trust, corporation, or LLC with a corporate member.
